Playing with Lace
I've been playing around with lace today, attaching it in different places on tank tops. I love lace and just handling it give me pleasure. I actually made a tank for myself and demured it up a bit so nothing shows. Yes, I'm a prude but I'm happy that way.

Small Journal of the Day
Proverbs 31:28--"Her children arise and call her blessed."
What a tribute to a mother--to be called blessed. I used a picture from an insert from Somerset Studio Magazine as the focal point on a scrapbook paper background and added lace dot trim and woven pink trim and a metal flowered button. The bouquet is a collection of flowers I gleaned from hankies and the word, "blessed," taken from a vintage dictionary, is glued to feed sack fabric. I added an assortment of seam bindings and ribbons to the ends on which I tied a key, a drop from an earring and a tiny plastic curtain ring. A vintage pearl clip earring is stabilized on the ribbons with stitches sewn through the clip.

Works for Today
I got another bracelet done today and I'll be putting it in my Etsy shop. These two journals go to
S'More Couture, a little shop where I'm able to sell some of my artwork. The children pictures come from a beautiful book called "In the Nursery." It has gorgeous drawings of children by many women artists of the day (early 20th century.) I put a few of these pages up for sale on my Etsy site but they didn't sell so I'm going to use them. Some will go into a pile of ephemera I'm going to begin selling there. The title of the children journal is "Pursue Peace" and the scripture reference is found in Hebrews 12:14--"Pursue peace with all people." The bottom one uses a transparency from an Angela Cartwright collection under which I've placed a picture of two little girls. It reminded me of a "secret garden" so that's what I named it. I found a poem to use called "In My Secret Garden" that fits perfectly.

Two Pearl Bracelets
I made these two little (only 6 1/2" long) pearl bracelets--one with crystal spacers. I think they turned out beautiful. The little roses are made from vintage lingerie. They're going to the shop around the corner but I'll have to make one for my Etsy shop as well. Look for it later this week.
Pearls are so beautiful. Heaven will have pearls.
Revelation 21:21--"The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of pure gold, like transparent glass."

Finally, A Small Journal
It's been a long time since I created a Small Journal. This one is called "Friend." I carry a little journal in my purse all the time to jot down my thoughts, creative ideas and impressions--a little like this one. I'm putting this in my Etsy shop today and will be making more for S'More Couture. The lovely picture of two little girls came from Dawn at The Feathered Nest. Thanks, Dawn.

Tags
Last weekend I made some tags for a commission for the shop, S'More Couture. The last one is a tag I made for a bridal shower on Sunday. It was fun collaging again because it has been a long time--months--since I've done so. I used vintage hand-written papers, an old American Legion certificate and vintage music. I adhered copies of some pretty ladies and children on top, highlighted with a white paint pen and added a row of old lace trims. They turned out cute, I think, and I'll probably make more to put in my Etsy shop. The Mother bottle that I made last week is in my Etsy shop now (see right side bar, click on the bottle for a close-up and description.)

Bottles
Three bottle made this week: Friend, Dreams, Mother
A friend loves at all times--Proverbs 17:17
May your mother be glad; may she who gave you birth rejoice! Proverbs 23:25
Two scriptures used in two of the bottles.

Shirts Made This Week
I worked on six tank tops this week. The three go to the shop, S'More Couture and the red and turquoise ones are commissions from a friend for her granddaughter. I'm loving ruffles; can you tell? I just found out my tags are not waterproof, though. Boo-hoo. Now I have to get some made professionally. Any ideas? Indelible ink, maybe?

Bridesmaid's Gray Flowers
I've had a busy week and will be posting pictures in the next few days of what I made. These are bridesmaids flowers given to me to decorate. The colors are light gray on a charcoal dress. These will be worn at the waist and each is different from the others. At the bride's request, I used gray, pearls and gold to match earrings they will be wearing. It was difficult finding old jewelry and I added new beads as well plus I cut some gold filigree jewelry findings. They turned out ok but I wasn't crazy about the colors. I hope the bride likes it because these will be hard to redo since I used E-6000 glue. Yikes! (Click on the picture for an enlarged view.)

Ah, Sweet Spring!
Finally, I can safely say that Spring has arrived in Central Illinois. This is a shot of an open tulip in our front yard.
Here are more lovely tulips with hyacinths amound them. I love the beautiful pinks.
Song of Solomon 2:12
Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land.

Two New T Shirts
These t-shirts have been altered by removing part of the sleeves and the pockets and making them into rolled roses. I added pearls to the white and crystal beads to the black. These go in the shop around the corner. I'm so thankful to be able to produce beautiful things.
There's a bit of a story behind these rolled flowers. I thought I had this great idea and then two weeks later, after looking in some high-end catalogues, I found the exact flower on t-shirts and shoes. Nothing's new under the sun.
Ecclesiastes 1:9--"What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun."

Creating in Pink
I finished the bride's maids flowers for the headbands Amy will finish. Check a few posts back for the first ones and compare. I love them, if I do say so myself. The jewelry will be attached by Amy as she sees fit. Of course, I didn't take pictures of the bride's flowers before I gave them to Amy but they are nothing like these. They are rolled white with lace and pearls. I don't think they are as pretty but we'll see what the bride says. I hope these are ok but one never knows just what is in the mind of the commissioner. I'll let you know.
I made a little flower with vintage pink chiffon and pink tulle and added a pearl from a vintage necklace. It's glued to a covered plastic headband and would be so cute for some little girl (I have 5 granddaughters so I need to make a few more.) This one is in my Etsy shop (see side bar.)Today is Good Friday that wasn't so good over 2000 years ago. Our Lord was killed by angry, jealous people, as predicted by the prophets. He gave his life for me and you.
Acts 16:31--They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved--you and your household."
