The Workers Are Few

Matthew 9:36-38 states the words of Jesus: "When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.' "
In my church December begins an emphasis on missions giving. All our churches give to this special offering to send missionaries overseas and most of their support for the year comes from this offering. Many churches have missionaries on furlough speak to tell of their lives on the mission field. There are many more without Christ than with and the labor is intense so few want to sacrifice comfort, money, family and friends to make a commitment to service in another country. Things haven't changed much from the time of Christ as he tried to inlist disciples into service. Is he calling you?

This card was made in answer to a challenge by the Yahoo group, Art In The Word. It is based on cardstock on which I stippled antique gold paint and adhered a copy of the world from http://www.nasa.com/ and a copy of a vintage image and paint.
